Harmonium Synthesis

The harmonium is the heartbeat of Nepali devotional and folk music. I'm working on sampling one note by note โ€” recording the reed buzz, the bellows breath, every harmonic โ€” and rebuilding it as a virtual instrument that feels like the real thing.

Processed through JUCE into a playable VST, the goal is to give any musician worldwide access to this sound โ€” no harmonium needed, authenticity preserved.

Digital Ragas

A raga isn't just a scale โ€” it's a time of day, an emotion, a story. This project maps the structures of Nepali and Hindustani ragas โ€” their rise and fall, signature phrases, and feeling โ€” into software compositions.

Ragas like Bhairav, Yaman, and Bhairavi come alive through synthesis. Ancient structure, digital medium.

Madal VST

Nepal's national drum โ€” the Madal โ€” has a sound that no sample pack has ever gotten right. This project is my attempt to change that: deep sampling, careful tuning, VST plugin implementation.

I've also documented the process with tips for anyone else trying to digitize indigenous percussion instruments.
